I made it! Quite an interesting trip and I’d gladly do it again. (Which is good, as I do have to drive back to NY in November.)
I left Erie on Tuesday and arrived in Boise on Saturday. On Thursday I stopped at Mack’s, and was thoroughly impressed by his shop. I got to be an apprentice for a day and made a CPVC low G whistle.
After squaring up with Mack’s wife, “the money womanager”, I came away with two brass Hoovers as well - a narrow and a traditional bore.
I’ll have a couple more pics once I get my film developed.
I figured it must be close to when you’d be getting into town. I need to get your number–you can e-mail if you’d feel more comfortable with that. Hope your trip was a good one … looking forward to hearing about it, especially the Colorado whistle excursion
We had that little birthday dinner for my oldest son with our good friends a week and a half ago (their daughters are best buds with our sons). Our flautist friend is definitely interested in getting together and was going to talk to another of her friends who she recently played in a Celtic group with (I think he plays guitar).

Glad you made it! Hope you get settled in soon! Does this mean you’re taking up making whistles as a hobby now? (ducking and running)
Nooooo…My low G is a trifle out of tune. But it sure was fun!
Glad to know you had a fun, and SAFE, trip!!! And, LOOK at that WHISTLE!!! Making it must have really been fun! Good luck with your new job, and enjoy your summer in Idaho ~ be sure to visit Lake Coeur-de-Lane…
