OT spring is in the air.....

Driving to work this morning just after I dodged the Buzzard that take to sitting on the white line in the middle of the road (for the last 2 weeks - strange may be it thinks its a sheep!)…anyway it came on the radio that tradional Cumbrian pastime that show spring has arrived The Lamb Bank!!

This is where they post lists that go something like this:

“Gerald Braithwaite of Burnneyside has 2 herdwick gimmers, Peter Coward of Brakenbarrow has 1 Shropshire,Blue face gimmer mules … etc etc.”

I’ll leave the conclusions to yourselves

Goody goody!

I’m off to Deepest Darkest Dorset for a week’s holiday starting on Saturday, and there had better be winter lambs frolicking in the fields or someone’s gonna catch it hot!

One of the local farmers keeps Jacob’s sheep, so I expect to see a whole bunch of brown & white blobs.

A much nicer way to know that spring is in the offing than what we get here. Here I know that spring is almost here when the acacia blooms (and I know the acacia is blooming when I start to sneeze and wheeze). Now lambs would be downright pleasant…

On a similar topic, while I was waiting for my fellow car pool driver this morning, I looked over at the pasture across the road and saw all the horses having a romp. They came galloping down the hill out of the mist like something in a movie…really spectacular!

My horse is shedding and I saw a robin on Tuesday, so spring HAS to be coming…even though it’s about 4 degrees F outside right now.
