OT-last day of winter!!!

Tomorrow, the 20th, at 11:16 AM, PST, Winter will turn into Spring, and the sun will rise and set precisely due east and west. Contrary to popular belief, the days and nights are equal a few days earlier. We will soon be able to whistle with all the doors and windows wide open!

Bloom flowers, bloom!

Not a moment too soon!

Hey Rich, look on the bright side! You could be getting inches instead of little centimeters!

in Just-
spring when the world is mud-
luscious the little
lame balloonman

whistles far and wee

and eddieandbill come
running from marbles and

piracies and its
spring

when the world is puddle-wonderful

the queer
old balloonman whistles
far and wee
and bettyandisbel come dancing

from hop-scotch and jump-rope and

it’s
spring
and

the
goat-footed
balloonMan whistles
far
and
wee

El Paso forecast for tomorrow: Mostly sunny, 71°F /22°C.

But no daffodils.

My sympathies Rich. 2 inches of wet sloppy snow predicted for N. Dakota.

Thanks for the poem. Painfully
lovely.

Which reminds me… I need to go mow the lawn. The problem is that the daffodils have sprouted in the middle of the lawn and I don’t want to ruin them.

Here spring actually arrives on the Feast of St Bridget, Feile Bride. The first of february. Kids go out picking rushes to make St Btidget’s crosses and all those shenanigans. Didn’t get much of spring so far however.

Okay, so in about 2 hours it will officially be spring. I thought of this as I was working out this morning (Andrea Corr eat your heart out; you need muscle tone woman!) Dan tells our son to let the dog out to do her thing, and what do I see??? BLEEPIN’ SNOW. 4" of the stuff. Now those of you in the mid west and other such areas of prolific snow may think “And your point being…what”? Well, it doesn’t snow here that often. Schools are closed and most likely everyone will chicken out about going to work. I’m actually jealous and kicking myself in the butt for ever buying a 4 wheel drive vehicle. AAAARG!

Kari (and others with rain, cold, and snow), I’ll be sending warm thoughts your way as I enjoy the first day of spring here in Atlanta-- we have a gorgeous blue-skied day with an expected high of 75.

Weird. Our seasons must be different to those in the northern hemisphere. We have summer Dec 1, autumn March 1, winter June 1, and spring September 1.

Spring…yes we’ve been having that here in Florida for a few weeks now!

I really miss that “spring smell.” March in El Paso means dust storms. I miss lilacs, too.

I was just thinking on my way home for lunch under bright blue 55 degree skies that I was glad I moved away from San Diego where it’s so flippin’ nice all the time you really get sick of it. Thank goodness for seasons - Makes you so GLAD for spring!

It was a lover andhis lass,
With a hey and a ho
and a hey nonny no.
That oer the sweet green fields
did pass
In springtime, in springtime
The only perfect ring time
When birds do sing.

Sing ring a ding a ding
Sing ring a ding a ding
Sing ring a ding a ding
True lovers love the spring.

Hamlet in April

I would not praise your legs as fine
Had I not something more in mind,
For it is spring!
The virtue sought
has melted off with winter’s melt.
My thought has drained as down
an iron tub
And nothing is as it would seem.

To sleep, perchance to rub,
Ah, there’s the dream!

me 1960 apologies for lewdness but
that’s spring.
