Ah well. I guess I’m just not in the same league as some of the witty humo(u)rists around here, my little attempt at humor got modded off the board (admittedly it was a repeat from a couple of months ago – perhaps thats it, repeated jokes are against policy).
Anyway, for those of you who know what I’m talking about, 49 C&Fers clicked through the ‘Andrea Corr Topless’ link to the ‘Busted’ page. I have all of the IP addresses…
For those of you with principles who didn’t click through, it was a bogus link that just told you you were’busted’. There are no photos. I know, not high humor but I didn’t expect it to be bounced.
I thought it was funny, and am surprised that anyone found it offensive, HOWEVER if you did find it offensive I apologise – it certainly wasn’t my intent.
I’m learning here. It’s OK to post offensive political remarks bordering on the racist, but not a joke. Got it.
Well, FV, I know that I’m guilty of at least one if not more posts that probably offended someone. Humor’s a touchy thing, esp. these days. But then, now and again I sink to being an oaf, what can I say? Not sure why your post got trounced…

I’ve seen the alleged paparazzi photo of Andrea Corr topless.
While I know there is considerable debate over its authenticity, it sure looks like her to me.

While I’m not offended by nudity, some are. And some object to youngsters being exposed to such things. We do have a few minors on the board. Kardshark87 is only 15 or so, if I remember right. There are others, too.
I think people might be more offended by the suggestion that you’re collecting their IP address and/or somehow classifying them as perverts.
On a related subject, there used to be a British based web site that contained a collection of photos of celebrities in various states of intoxication. They had one of the Bush daughters after she had fallen down in a bar, I remember, and one of a very drunk Andrea Corr in a low cut strappy dress that had partially fallen off of her. I think the site has since been taken down (perhaps because of legal action). Anyway, if you missed it, you didn’t miss much (double entendre intended).
Yep, yep…15 and 3 months to be exact (3 more months and I get my permit, woo hoo!). I clicked on the link because I knew it had to be a bogus link. First of all, nobody would post something like that on C&F (it wouldn’t make Dale and Rich very happy…). Secondly, it was from fatveg, so I figured it was probably something funny, weird, random, etc. Enjoy your whistling and drink your milk!

P.S. Chances are, if it was in a tabloid, it was probably fake. Those things are fun to laugh at, though. My brother brought one home from work (he works in a grocery store and he and the people he works with got bored and started reading it) once. Apparently the Chinese were digging a hole through the earth and were expected to come up “somewhere in the Bartlesville area” (B’ville is where I live, by the way). Jokes are okay Fatveg, but the nature of your little joke was such that the people who will be offended by it won’t see enough of it to realize that it is a joke. So, you kinda put yourself in a bad position with that one…
Interesting thoughts by y’all. A couple of points:
I know there is a mix of ages and sensibilities on the board. I would never have posted a link to anything that might offend
ALL websites collect IP addresses. Including this one. Whenever you surf the web you leave a little trail behind you, if anyone wanted to they could reconstruct it.
While I would not have posted such a link here, I do find it amusing that a piece of text that says ‘Andrea Corr Topless’ (and nothing else) is a big no-no, yet it is ok to post thoughts bordering on the xenophobic. I’m not looking for an answer here, I’m professing bewilderment. It’s the same way that I find it strange that minor nudity on tv is considered bad but extreme violence is ok.
Of course, I am assuming that the joke link was the reason I was modded – but it could have been that I dared to reveal my drag name in my post. Of course now it has been removed you will never know…

I guess I didn’t suss that people would be offended merely by the existence of the link. As I said, I had no intention of offending anyone. I assumed that anyone who did click trough would find it funny. Last time I posted it I got some good feedback. I also thought that in the context of my whole reply (why I am called fatveg) it was kinda relevant.
I’ve been offended by much that I have read on this board over the last couple of weeks. I’ve to this point chosen just to let it pass, not get drawn in and not read too much of it. It was just the stark contrast that riled me here, that none of what has been said has been censored, but this was.
What you left out of this account, fatveg, and both of your subsequent sort-of-apologies, is that your “joke” page said you were going to publicly post all of those collected IP addresses and the identities of the companies or users they’re traced back to.
I thought the “busted” part was funny; the threatened posting of IP addresses was not, and could be seen as a violation of board users’ privacy.
You didn’t miss much. The gist of the post was (from memory, obviously I don’t have it):
a) I’m ‘fatveg’ because I’m a vegetarian and not slim
b) The assumption that all veges are pasty and skinny annoys me
c) I’m a vege for political/compassionate reasons, not health reasons
d) My real name is Chris, but you can call me Brenda (my drag name)
e) If you want to see how bad being skinny can look, see this link to tabloid photos of AC. The link went to a bogus page telling you you had been busted. The joke was because a significant proportion of people on this board seem to have a fixation on AC. She does nothing for me (and Ms. Lawson just makes me think of her father – eeeeeww). And yes, it joked about posting IP addresses, and sending them to cult religious organizations. No, I’m not going to do either of these, but again, every web site collects IP addresses, including this one (can’t find a privacy policy for C&F, and it does have a webbug on it, so the Crystal People could be collecting a lot of info…). If you really want to see the bogus page go to xxxxwww.dreammask.com/acn/acnude.php (remove the xxxx – I’ve put it on to stop the board treating it as a link, so you really have to want to see it to go there.
Anyway, it was meant to be funny. Clearly some people didn’t think it was. I really, really didn’t think anyone would be offended. I’ve apologised (genuinely), but apparently that is only a ‘so-called’ apology.
The reason I was upset about this was that I find it strange given what has been said on the board that that this was considered more offensive than any of that. I have no idea who complained or got it modded off – or for that matter why (I’m guessing that it was the ref to AC). I know it wasn’t Rich.
