That’s for sure.
We have a newbie kitten (last one left out of 5!) and it’s getting big enough to get all excited when it hears the microwave beep…it thinks that it’s milk has just been warmed up. We got a special “kitten recipe” from the vet:
evaporated milk, water, 1 egg, 2 Tb. honey, one pakage of Knox Gelatin.
Regular cows milk isn’t good for their digestion.
Oh, names…Divinity, baby-cakes, Percy…they like names with lip-clicking noises, or hisses.
I kinda like Carolan, but my partner likes Phoebe, which a friend of ours suggested. I tend to call the kitten Scootch (bc she scoots around then I pick her up and hug her, which she tolerates quite well for 5 seconds or so
) anyway, so we’ll probably go with Phoebe as her “real” name.
And yes, she already comes arunning to the sound of cat food being shaken.

I named my sister-litter-mate cats Liz & Eileen 'cause those are my favorite fiddlers (and I enjoyed the slight perversity of the cat-gut/fiddle implication).
So “Joni” or “Mary” would work for whistle-lovers.
I like giving animals “people” names. even though my favorite cat name was my cousin’s e-NOR-mous longhair, “Cat-baby.” Or the neighbor’s truly nasty “Himsey,” a biter and scratcher.
How about “Herself”?

I once had a cat named Fido. He was way cool.
I once had a cat named Rover. He acted a lot like a dog. Made me want to name this one something like Calm or Obedient. ![]()

Our kitten’s name is Pippin from LOTR.
