If you haven’t been out tonight and the sky’s clear where you are, I would suggest you step outside and take a look at the moon (just past full/very bright) and Mars (still the second brightest object in the night sky).
Thank you. I did. It is indeed spectacular… Mars’ reddish tint so clearly visible. It’s been months since I’ve seen the night sky completely clear like this. A serenely lovely sight…
they were stunning here as well, the moon was blood red as it came up over Kirkby moor and was reflected in the calm sea of the Duddon estury, I went a walk down the shore at about 11pm and whistled up a few tunes.
I guess that why I’m shattered this morning.
hey-ho
Richard.
I was watching them over the pipe major’s shoulder last night. The full moon rising out of the whispy clouds and Mars a bailful red eye gleeming next to her. It is something to see.
I’ve sat in our backyard the past like three nights, admiring the moon and Mars. Totally brilliant. One night, Mars was on the left side of the moon and incredibly close to it, the next night, it was on the right side and very far away. Odd how it changed so quickly!
Astronomy just leaves me in awe and being able to see Mars so close was something that I’ll never forget. And the moon never ceases to amaze me!
I actually wrote a little poem after stargazing:
The moon shone bright,
the vision of Mars
before my eyes.
Above me all the stars,
twinkled with light
in the sable skies.
Surrounded by a soft, cool breeze,
it was as calm and peaceful
as the seas.
As the crickets chirped
in the distance,
I am encompassed by nothingness,
yet enchanted by the world.
