OT: Ireland trip pictures

Well, I hope I can figure out how to post these.

I’ll just test one. This is me pretending to play in the minstrel’s gallery at Bunratty Castle.

Fantastic! More, more!!!

Okay, it seems to work. Here’s some more:

The Iron Age fort, Dun Beag (down by the water there–kind of hard to see) On the Dingle Penisula. God, it was a beautiful day. I highly recommend the entire Dingle Penisula. It’s incredible.

A lake by Kylemore Abbey. I sat on the shore for quite a while and serenaded the mountains!

A (touristy but good) session at Gogarty’s, Temple Bar

The Cliffs of Moher (where else?)

A jaunting car ride thru Killarney National Park. That’s Ross Castle in the background.

I wanna know where you found the sun. I was there a month and the only sun I’ve seen was in your pictures! I actually liked all the clouds, the rain and the cool weather but blue sky mixed in isn’t a bad thing especially when you’re taking pictures. Glad you enjoyed your trip.

Love the shots, Kar. But like Stout, everybody I knew who went there this year found a lot of clouds n rain.. You musta been charmed. More if ya have em!

Great pictures! I’m sick to my stomach now. I want to go (and I want your red hair)!

That session looked interesting!

Murph, you exaggerate.

I distinctly remember during Willie Week there was a four minute spell of near blinding sunshine between 1:33pm and 1:37pm on the Thursday when all the tourists looked for their sunglasses. Maybe you were indoors when it occurred.

If you look carefully at the cliffs of Moher shot, Kar is in sun but not all the cliffs!

Kar - Love all your shots, I’ve been to many of those places myself, so now I can sit in the office and daydream about my trips to Ireland!

The sun was really a surprise. I went Aug 10th - 20th, which was when Europe was having that record-making heat wave, and everyone in Ireland was remarking how HOT it was (maybe high 70’s) and how sunny. I heard locals say lots of things like, “We only get five days like this a year and here they all are in a row!” I did run into some light rain and gloom near the end, but yes, I was blessed with great weather.

I’m glad people enjoyed the pictures!

Proof that it WAS Irish-like weather sometimes…

I was in Ireland in May. We experienced about 45 minutes of hazy sunshine. Everybody told us that we should have come in April, “we had a full week of sunshine last month!” You pay your money an you take your chances.

Nobody comes to Ireland to get a suntan. The options available are windburn and rust.
