Just wanted to let the C&F community know that FINALLY, I will be marrying my beautiful Charlene on 6/30. Been waiting for over 2 years while my nasty divorce wound it’s way through the slow grinding mills of “justice” ( but that’s another story).
Ours is one of those internet romances which actually worked out. I sold Char a bass recorder on eBay (she lived in Michigan, I in upstate NY), started up a correspondence, and here we are. Got the bass recorder back, along with the best lady on the planet.
Congrats. Glad to hear that some Internet romances can work out.
I second that… Congradulations as well!!!
And you couldn’t of picked a better date if I do say so myself!
June 30th is me and my hubbie’s anniversary of 23 years. Working on the silver!
May you and your wife to be have many happy anniversaries.
Laura
When I got married March 25, 2000, some of my favorite musician friends volunteered to play for Ceil and me as their wedding gift. The first tune we heard as man and wife was “Haste to the Wedding” played on two fiddles, whistle, and guitars. Great memory. I hope your first tune as husband and wife is equally memorable!

Congratulations!
May your music in life be filled with harmony
and rythmn.
Hey Paul, way to go. Sounds like Charlene is getting the real deal as well. Congratulations to you both. Hopefully I will meet up with the whistling couple sometime soon here around the great northeast.
Keith
Congratulations Paul you lucky dog! No Lamers here!
Haste to the Wedding is one of my favourite jigs too, used as part of the theme tune to The Irish RM many moons ago.
Congrats, Paul! Are you or your buds making any special beers?
My brother (ESB) and I (raspberry wheat) are doing special beers for my nephew, who’s getting married on June 29.

It’s nice to know that, occasionally, a recorder can be good for something besides getting rid of unwanted neighbors. ![]()

(Can’t figure out how to do quotes correctly on this board!)
No, alas with the wedding plans, new house, etc, I haven’t brewed anything in a LONG time. Guess I should change my name to formerbrewerpaul ![]()

Hi Gogo,
RM stands for resident magistrate. In the pre-republic days many local magistrate positions were held by Englishmen. The two books by Somerville & Ross were made into a popular TV serial (ran to 3 series) in which the local Irish populace frequently enjoy putting one over on the poor man in this now-defunct post. Peter Bowles played the title role.
cheers, Martin
