Just received this CD in the mail, and it’s fantastic - solo piping, purely live except for a spot of A drone, and some regulator overdubbing for a wonderful duet. Great packaging, the title is featured on the cover above the cover of O’Farrell’s Pocket Companion for the pipes, in the same style of text, with those antique style “s” letters that look like "f’s, so the title seems to be “O’Sullivan meetf O’Farrell.” Lots of little touches like that - great liner notes too, which I’m itching to have a look at after hearing the record.
And how’s the music? Grand! Your jigs, reesl and hornpipes, as usual but also a quick-step, strathspeys, tunes with variations, all of them very dusty with age, played in masterly style. Buy at once if you like Irish pipes - and Jerry’s set sounds quite harmonious here, too.
O’Sullivan meetf O’Farrell
Actually, that is no accident. It is well known that O’Farrell was severely buck-toothed.
Not sure about the third leg, though.
I’ve my copy on order from Ossian. Probably have another week to wait. Sounds like it will be excellent, though. Thanks, Kevin.
