O'Riordan Low Whistles....

Alright well as some of you may have seen I am trying to trade a High D O’Riordan for some kind of O’Riordan low whistle. And I guess before I go through with any offers I have had I want to pick all of your brains for a second. And I have been browsing this board since long before this user name and have alot of trust in peoples opinions so here we go…

One is a O’Riordan Low whistle even that wonderful, because to me the high is wonderful in my perspective atleast. Links to reviews on Low D, F, G would be nice if you know of any, I searched to no avail.

Value I know the value of a O’Riordan High whistle is pretty sky high, mine was not cheap at all. What is the current going value of O’Riordan low whistle. In keys D, F, G.

I hate to sound money grubby, but is it a fair exchange for the money to trade a High for a low…

Please help me all you whistle gurus…

Quick answers:

  1. Prices seem comparable for all sizes of O’Riordan, so I’d say it’s a fair exchange. But I admit I haven’t followed the auctions that closely.

  2. I’ve got a full set of O’Riordan low whistles, and they are all lovely instruments. My low D has a much more woody, mellow tone than a Traveller high D. But note that there are different designs for the low D – I’ve tried one that was uncannily like my high D only down an octave, and another that Pat designed as a “quiet” whistle you could play without annoying your wife.
