I have had a couple of David OBrien’s high D whistles, which have just been great , including the reasonable prices. I’m ready to jump into the low D world. I have a good reach and play flute. As long as I can be heard in a session I should be fine. But since he’s (relatively) new to the lows I wanted to see if people are happy with them.
I was the happy recipient of the O’Brien tour whistles for about a week and a half and I have to tell you - I really liked the low “D”, although I had a hard time playing it, being unaccustomed to stretching my fingers that far. Paul [Busman] had a crack at it before I sent it off and, believe me, it sounded much better in his capable hands.
You won’t go wrong with one of David’s low whistles.
