On eBAY: IRISH PIPER Staffordshire Figure

Hmmm…says IRISH PIPER at the base, not UILLEANN PIPER.

Seller says it’s been appraised at $85 - $100… and the head is broken off?

Check the listing - repair estimates are $85 - $110. Buyer could have it repaired at the own schedule or even attempt to repair it themselves.

Hmmm, usually you have to wait for UPS to break the head off.

No hEad

Correction:
$85 - $110 to repair and he’s asking $75 as a starting bid? :astonished:

Starting bid: US $75.00
“Buy it now” price: US $75.00

Not much of an auction, is it?

These are quite rare and it is great coincidence I came across a complete pair this morning: the piper and a woman in shawl, in a Clarinbridge, Co Galway antique shop. It has been very long since I have seen one. The pair came at 700 euro, which would be the going rate for a Staffordshire set like this.

Count your blessings so with the broken head/price.

By the way, given to reckless impulse-buying I was tempted but the family pointed out the budget was not in favour of a 700 euro purchase. Got a nice etching of a concertinaplayer in Kenny’s bookshop in Galway though
