How does this whistle compare with the newer Burke whistle with the Delrin tips?
Matter of taste. I’ve had both and prefer the newer blacktip, which has a stronger more complex or dark low end, and perhaps less tendency to clog. For me, a wonderful work horse whistle that’s evenly balanced in every way between octaves. (I’m referring to the black tip).

The whistle in the auction was made in 2004 and has a delrin mouthpiece.
The newer model black tips have an exposed delrin plug that comes up above the brass (or aluminum) on the mouthpiece. The difference in tone is evident between the two even though both have the same materials. That date of make is pretty late however, and I have an Al-pro, that is not a newer black tip, but has a delrin plug - it is also a fine whistle, but it’s lack of as complex a low end may be due to the body material alumunum as opposed to brass. That said, I still think there is something special about those black tips (exposed delrin models) wherein Mike really really got it right. That’s a double really, as opposed to just a single really for the earlier whistles.

It is indeed from 2000ish. That’s the same style I’m selling. Obviously this one is going for a bit less, so it’s a darn good deal.
The 2000 DWBB was a solid one. There is a nice chiff to the tone that needs to be heard.
As stated, this one is a good deal…I’m amazed it’s still this low.
