Hi
Tomorrow I am putting my whistle up for sale on the Ebay UK website. It is a Michael Burke D Aluminum Session DASBT. I have ‘played’ it, and I use the term loosely, about a dozen times but now realise I am not going to find the time to learn to play it properly.
Thursday is one of the cheap listing days at Ebay UK so I will put it up at about 2pm, which is early morning USA. The opening price will be only £40 which is around $80 so if there are not many clued up people you may get it at a bargain price. A simple search should find it if anyone is interested. I am including the pouch it came in and also one I bought for it.
I hope it goes to a good home. It is in immaculate condition!
All the best
Jack
Thanks for that - I will watch this for sure.
I am also watching the Burke Low D right now as I would love one - but maybe better going for a new one if I can. Never really sure with fleabay unless you know the vendors real history. Anybody ‘familiar’ with ‘catabeagdubh’ - the small black cat I reckon (vendor of the Low Burke!)?
cheers
Stephen
Wll I can’t seem to find it on ebay. Have you put i up or sold it already?
Mick
Mick - It’s on the UK eBay just in case your looking on ebay.com
Oh, Ta for that. I was looking on ebay.com
If it comes my way Shipley I can guarantee it will be well loved and looked after, as well as played often (but at this stage, not necessarily well)
.

Wow - £106 plus postage and I thought I had put a high bid in!! Just goes to show what a great investment (or more practically, how sought after) a Mike Burke whistle is.
cheers
Stephen
Guess so, although for an apparently ‘unplayed’ 2007 instrument at current exchange rates..
Mike’s new price = $190.00 = £108.23
-
maybe $20 postage to Scotland + maybe $6 bank conversion charge + $?? UK customs risk = at least £122.90 altogether
-
Mike’s waiting list + transatlantic snail mail waiting time…
Probably fair enough if you wanted one.
PS. still enjoying my £3.50 Generation green top ![]()
Makes it worthwhile getting a new one in my mind. You can enjoy it from new and if you ever want to part with it, for whatever reason, then it has retained considerable value.
Mike has a couple of good reasons for buying new too -
_A new one would have two advantages:
- If you decide you don’t like it, you can return it for a refund or
exchange within 30 days as long as it is in like new condition. If you
exchange it, the second whistle is shipped for no charge.- There is a one year warranty and we would fix the whistle for any
manufacturers defects and we pay return shipping on any repairs. We don’t
get many whistles back, but it is good to know that we take care of them._
I think these are also in stock therefore no wait as such. There is that old customs thing for sure…
Maybe one day I will pick one up but for now I’m happy with the dixon and tweaked dog (my 2 yr old chews the green top but makes some interesting screeches now and then - just like I did).
cheers
Stephen
