Aye, I paid around £1300 for mine in 2009, it was a few months old, from a lady in Cork. I couldn’t wait and no import duty as Ireland and Sweden are in EU.
I ordered a tweed case from Arkansas for my mandolin a couple of weeks ago (we’ve started to play old timey Appalachian tunes), I’ve tracked it from Arkansas, Miami, London, to Copenhagen the 23rd of June. It’s in Sweden now, but held up while they work out the import tax I guess.
Neither of my two Olwells have any numbers anywhere, inside or out. I stuffed a date of purchase on a piece of paper inside the Pratten type keyless Blackwood’s cap; which reminds me to do the same with my new boxwood RnR type. Both by the way are hair prickingly commanding, though it puzzles me how they both seem to have the same placed and almost same sized sound holes, but then I’m not one for noticing details. My mid 19th century ‘orphan’ flute is still the sweetest and most popular flute I own but not as easy and masterful in range as the Olwells.
