I remember when Daleforce 1 was flying back and forth to major points of whistledom on a frequent schedule. However, if I am not mistaken, Daleforce 1 must by out on the tarmack in Tucson, waiting to be scrapped for parts. I haven’t heard much from the chief officer for some time. Yes, websites, just like people, get a little old and stale and quietly fade from the picture. As Woody Guthrie once wrote in his classic tune about the people leaving the areas of the USA plagued by dust storms (the dust bowl):
“So long, it’s been good to know ya … I’ve got to be drifting along”. Of course, I am referring to the website and not to my participation. Denny and I wouldn’t know what to do with ourselves without a good place to come in, sit down, and say a few words, but it does seem that the place could use a little renovation, like fresh paint, new carpet, and more-frequent office parties.

I noticed this a while back..but what the F.. people come and go and we are still here ..
No disrespect to those that post frequently but there has been a change in the weather, so to speak, lately. The place has changed a bit but that is something that happens from time to time.
Like any Pub, it was not ours to own and when strangers enter we feel like they are intruding.
When I first came here I was a stranger, walked in, said Hello, and met some fine people…

I’m really aware that I’m not posting much and I regret it. I have a lot of good friends here and I feel negligent. People deserve better.
I won’t get into all the factors, but the short version is that I’ve always been a very busy person, but nowadays I’m an overwhelmed person. I’m extremely busy at work and I am traveling much more than usual to visit my mother, who is 85 and ailing. As much as I’m going home (to Arkansas), it’s never enough and I feel terrible because I’ve had to leave so much to be done by my brother and sister-in-law, who live back at home.
This place runs without me being as active here as I once was, thanks to the general good will of the participants and the wonderful moderators. Right Hand Pointing won’t, so I devote what little spare time I have to that. The poetry is therapeutic for me.
Please understand and realize that I miss everybody and hope to get back here more often soon.

Don’t sweat it, Dale. You started a wonderful thing and it’s taken on a life of it’s own. Take all the time you need to do what you have to do. In one way or another, we’ve all been there.

well, I certainly hope this place doesn’t get shut down due to the influence of “big box stores” (aka Facebook, etc.).
While I, too, may not have as much time to devote to posting, I still try to at least peek my head in once a day or so and see what is going on. I’ve “met” way too many good people here to just let it all die off.
I’ll pick up the next round after Dub!!!
