Where’s here. Lovely picture. Raining here like heck and the winds are strong also, not looking forward to walking to work this afternoon and then coming later that evening in the snow which is called for later.
Here on the other side of the glen we had temps in the mid 50’s yesterday. Today there are very strong winds and snow predicted for later this evening. November . . . you gotta love it!!!
Here in good old Patriotic New England, the temp is supposed to be in the mid 50’s, at least, with VERY heavy rains later in the day and rain throughout a good portion of Turkey Day!
Hey, Ohio. What we experienced today is supposed to be heading your way. Hold onto your hats and batten down the hatches!!! (Unless, of course, it quiets down before hitting you.) Plus lots of snow – the heavy wet stuff that’s a real back-breaker for shoveling out.
“Where” is the middle of the midwest - northeastern MO.
Thanks - It was even lovlier tonight, as the snow finally stopped just before sunset, so there was an orange glow seen behind all of the thick wet snow-covered trees… I’ll see if I can post one of those.
Wow. Yeah. I used to go to Hannibal in the summers a long time ago to the Ice House (summer stock theatre). We go through Hannibal when we go back to Edina to visit family and friends. What town are you in?
Are you sort of between Hannibal & Palmyra? I know of New London and I know I’ve seen signs for it.
They shut the Ice House down a while ago I hear. When were you there? Did you know Al Srnka or O. J. Merrill? They directed a lot of the shows in the 1970’s. They were a couple of my drama teachers when I attended NMSU (now Truman State University) in Kirksville.
Missed them, I suppose … I didn’t get involved until the early 80s. Unfortunately, all that’s left is a pad of concrete… sad loss. I think the Little Theatre Group is still extant though… I’ve been too busy raising kids to do plays. New London is south of Hannibal, while Palmyra is North…
I thought I saw signs for New London on US 61 either going toward Hannibal from Palmyra or toward Palmyra from Hannibal. I guess not . . .
The loss of the Ice House is sad. I remember it was always flooding back before the levy was put in next to the river. A lot of time was spent by the crew piling sand bags around the building when the river would start to rise.
I was gone by the early 1980’s, but as I said, I go back a couple of times a year to visit.

PS: I noticed in one of your posts that you mentioned Northeastern Missouri was in the midwest. I grew up believing that too, and actually still believe it; however, almanacs that I have seen lately now classify Missouri as a southern state. But I will always consider myself a midwesterner.
You probably did see the signs between Palmyra and Hannibal, although NL is a tiny town, it does get listed on the lovely green hiway signs… ah fame…
I think Missouri is assumed by many to be ‘southern’ rather than ‘midwestern’ because of its political leanings and history, rather than its location. It was a divided state in the Civil War era, with both northern and southern leaning folks (not necessarily geographically distributed in that manner)… and it certainly seems aligned with the stereotypical South these days during elections… 8^/
Next time you are up this way (or down, it seems) be sure to stop in at the Jam Factory in downtown Hannibal. Chris Foss is the owner, and a builder of hammered dulcimers, as well as other instruments. We have regular Monday night Jams http://www.silphium.net/NEMOFOTMAD/index.html … you would be most welcome.
Lovely pictures Anniemcu! This morning the sky is blue, but the wind is frosty, but no snow. Got some slushie stuff late last night but it’s all gone now.
Interesting though that there is more snow in Missouri than in southern Canada. Maybe we will have to set some kind of export/import business of importing snow to Canada
