'nother 'newbie

Hi Folks,

Just want to briefly introduce myself - I’ve been a C&F fan for quite some time, but not a regular contributor. I play bodhran & other percussion at our local session in Indianpolis & a bit of whistle and flute. Heavily bitten by the Irish music bug for the last few years since my knees gave out & can’t dance a jig anymore, & suffering from IAS (instrument accquisition syndrome) as most are.

If anyone is going to the Dublin OH fest that would be cool to say hello - I’m planning on being there Fri & Sat w/my wife Kathleen. Hope to see you there. We go to the Indy fest in Sept for the last few years, but the Dublin fest is about 20 x larger it seems. This will be our first time there. Looking forward to hearing some great trad.

Right now I’ve play a high d & c Clark Meg whistles, a Tipple D flute, & they’ve been great, but I’m looking for a better whistle with a better C nat then the little Meg can deliver… ; ) I’m also interested in the old wooden flutes from 1850’s etc., I have a Bb flute from that era and it has a really sweet tone. Not that he needs it - but I can’t say enough about how pleased I am with my Tipple D. Doug’s a genius! & a really nice guy to boot. I was really glad to find him when I was looking for a starter flute - Thanks Doug! I also horse around on the mando & guitar, but too little time…

Anyhow - that’s what I’m up to & trying to learn as many songs as I can as fast as I can.

Best to All,

Deisman
