Saw this in the NY Times online this morning…

I don’t get it.
I think it’s the headline…“Whistle Blower Leaves Enron.”
Marguerite
No, I literally didn’t get it. The page that popped up told me that I could be a member for free and asked for email and password options. I just moved on.
That’s a pretty good one, though!
Just sign up. You don’t have to tell 'em the truth about anything. Then it takes you to the article. Pretty funny, Paul!

I was disappointed, though. It doesn’t say whether the guy played a Burke, an Elfsong, NOTHING. It was probably a “frigging recorder.”
Yes, I was referring to the headline.
Hmmm-- I’ve heard of some Native American flutes referred to as “courting flutes”-- is that anything like a frigging recorder? Is it played before, or after, instead of a cigarette? ![]()
BTW-- it is definitely worth signing up for the free NY Times site. I check the Times every day totally free. Gotta clear an annoying popup ad from time to time, but it’s a great way to get the daily news. Saves trees from the pulp mill too…
My personal favorite on-line newspaper is Washington Post at http://www.washingtonpost.com. It too is afflicted with pop-ups but you only have to register for some features, like the comics.
But I hear that since the the NYT started up regional presses, it is beating the slop out of the Post in terms of sales.
Courting flutes? Friggin’ recorders? What’s next, Freudian cigars? Sometimes a whistle is just a whistle. ![]()

Yes, I did actually get it, Paul. I was just making a wee joke myself.
The “frigging recorder” was a reference to something Chris Laughlin posted about the “whistle” in Lord of the Rings. It made a lot of us laugh that day.

Hey! I resemble that remark!
