Ok folks…let’s have the details!!!

They probably need a few days to recover…

I hope he does an update!

Glands, you went last year didn’t you?

I did indeed attend last year.

On call responsibilities snuffed out the possibility of my attendance this weekend. It was, however, a serene weekend as far as being on call goes. Just one trip to the hospital all weekend and that was today.

Incredible, Lewis. Lots of killer humidity – 85%. Massive rainstorm/thunderstorm Sunday night. Andy May, Brian McNamara, Hamish/Fin Moore, David Power, Sam Handwich and Augusta Vindt . . . all were great to see along with the usual suspects.

Ahhh… the easy life of a medical endocrinologist…

4 babies for me, all after midnight… the little buggers

Who’s got pix of the get together at North Hero?

Great to know Sam Handwich was in attendance.

Re babies born after midnight…if people would just have sex in the daytime, instead of after midnight, them buggers would be born during the daylight hours. This is conventional wisdom.

Do you ever take the pipes to Labor and Delivery to play in between downloads?

“Hey doc…she’s at 9 cm and contractions are one and a half min apart.”

“Ah, great, I can get thru this set of jigs one more time.”

pix will be on the website within a couple of weeks.
i suspect they look the same from year to year except for the new faces.
the gathering itself was incredible.
benedict, hillary, brian, all did their usual brilliant thing.
this was the first north hero for david power. his playing got the closest thing north hero is capable of to a standing ovation. they loved his reg work, among other aspects of his playing (removing the lower hand completely from the chanter and going all over the regs for entire passages).
andy may is always a delight, for his sense of humor as much as his excellent piping. (NSP for those not familiar)
fin moore was for the second year in a row joined by graham mulholland. graham is fast, and the 2 play well together. (border pipes, for those not familiar)
many others gave great performances- ian macharg had his own set on ssp and ghb.

one thing i had never seen before- we had one set with nsp (may) border pipes (fin) and UPs (anthony sartori, sorry if i botched the last name). worked surprisingly well. miracles of modern soundmen.

up teaching was amazing, classes a little crowded this year compared to last.

as i sober up i will come up with more details

meir

Yes I will. I will be editing. organizing and (hopefully) posting them tonite.

Cheers,
BC

Since the concerts have been mentioned, perhaps it’s time to put in yet one more shameless plug for the North Hero Concert CD with some of the best of 2001-2002. If these continue to sell there may be sufficient funds to do a 2003-2004 CD. See the Pipers Gathering website at www.pipersgathering.org for details.

Best wishes.
Steve
