I think he was playing it in the key of C, it was very nice.
Thanks for the link.
I went to a workshop a couple of months ago in Caceres 2009 Irish Fleadh. I spent a great time with Niall learning great stuff. He has a interesting point of view about flute playing indeed. I talk to him about using keys, and I said that I love to use them, but when I listened him playing reels in all the keys with the D flute I became astonished, even he played a tune in Eb! He told me that he encourage to his pupils to tale a tune and play it in all the keys, D, C, Eb, G, A, Bb, etc, really amazing to do it as fluent as he does.
And the final phrase: “Don´t play an Eb flute, it´s so easy, that´s the dark side…”
Actually I can’t find Niall Keegan…
I guess it’s this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zRLIvKS1aoM
Still can’t find it on gentrai…
It is the topmost issue.
Mighty playing.
A few days ago I was still conflicted on whether or not I would want to make the jump to keyed flute. I just started up with a teacher and he has an 8 key Firth Pond so I got a chance to check that out. I think seeing this video just put the nails in the coffin.
Calling Dave Copley… Are you going to be in Dublin, Ohio this summer? ![]()
