newbie's first post

I have a song that I can’t play fast enough on my plastic Zen-On recorder. It is in Bb, with the lowest note being an Eb.
What key whistle do I need to buy? I thought it would be an Eb, as that is the lowest pitch. However, being new to the whistle, I see there are not as many holes. So…do I need to buy a high Bb key whistle that will allow me to also play a low Eb?

Yes. If the tune is in Bb and centered in the octave around Bb, with Eb low, then an Eb whistle in G fingering would probably work.

Thank you for your prompt reply. Now the fun begins searching for the right one. The site has wonderful information.

The Generation Eb and Bb are two of their best whistles IMHO and both are very low cost. My favourite Eb’s are the Susato VSB and the Generation nickel body with a Walton D mouthpiece. Just some low cost ideas.

I second the motion for the Generation Eb and Bb. Both are nice whistles right out of the box.

One of my favorite whistles is a nickel Gen Eb with a Whitecap. I don’t get to play it as often as I would like.
