Hi,
Sort of a newbie here. I was lurking around for some time (actually since about a year ago :slight_smile: ).
I’ve been messing around with whistle for the same time, caught the WhOA bug and got 4 soprano D (clarke original, sweetone, walton’s and oak) and a Dixon low d.
Ever since then I’ve been playing to my amusement (not getting any where in terms of technique, but as long as I can play a few tunes I like, I’m pretty happy :smiley: ).
Any way, enough rambling and back to the point, I fear that the WhOA is back with vengeance, as I found my self wondering the web in search for yet another whistle.
I’m pretty sure I don’t need another D whistle, as I have 4 already and I’m happy with them (my favorite is the oak), and I really cant afford another low whistle right now, even that that is the one I play the most.
So my question is: what inexpensive whistle do you recommend and what key?
I need something that is not to far out there as I am by no means a “good”"experienced" player, I’m just in it for the fun…
Any ideas?

I think there’s no better inexpensive whistle than the Waltons C in nickel. I love my Gen Bflat, and the Gen Eflat gets loads of good reviews.

If you are looking for a low tone low expense whistle The Generation B flat or the Waltons C. I have both of them and put some clay (non hardening) in the cavity under the wind way to smooth out a bit of the rattle and shrill.
I like the Waltons C to play non Irish tunes in C and the Gen Bb because it fits my shirt pocket better than a low d. Front pocket whistles are great, you never know when the mood to play will be overwhelming.
Back pocket whistles can be uncomfortable and bent.

Brass Generation Bb is one of my favorites.

You can try a two piece clare whistle (already a very good cheap whistle) with
a Hoover Whitecap. It’s a magical thing.
