Just wanted to let you guys know that I’ve just managed to get a new forum on the ‘Traditional Music of Ulster’ up & running, as part of the ‘Ulster-Scots Online’ website Forum. ‘:D’
As it’s part of an Ulster Scots Forum, the slant is very much on ‘Ulster Scots Music’. ‘
’
However, as a ‘Blow In’ I feel I am ideally placed to chat about this music the Ulster Scots community regard as theirs, i.e. Piping, Fifing, Fluting, Lambeg Drumming etc. & it’s relationship with Irish Music.
I’m looking forward to having some ‘interesting’ discussions here & would welcome any input, & another viewpoint or two, from any of you guys.
Must say it’s cool being a moderator here because I get to edit & delete a post if I don’t like the cut of a poster’s jib!
Oh the power, …the power ‘:moreevil:’
The trouble is, it’s oh so very quiet here, so far, that I’ve had no posts to get aggressive about - yet! ‘
’
{ well after all, it’s only three days old! }
However, I’m hoping it will warm up a little, in time - well, after all, the marching season’s not that far away! ‘:o’
With this new venture though, I’m hoping to learn a lot about all the different branches of music over here, Piping, Fifing, Fluting, Drumming, Fiddling etc etc & it’ll also give me a chance to promote ye olde Hammered Dulcimer of Co. Antrim, the Tin Whistle & Scottish Smallpipes.
Perhaps you are a bit curious too ‘:-?’
It’d be great to have you pop in, but remember I’m frae Edinburgh so - “you’ll hae had yer Dinner”! ‘:lol:’
