Need opinion on head-set mic

Hi,
I’ve used a lapel mic on stage, but its hard
to velcro it so it stays right above the
fipple hole.
Can anyone recommend a “head-set” type
one that might stay above the Penny
in the proper place?

I don’t know that you’d want to put the mic right over the fipple unless you’re playing a low whistle. The shrillness of a whistle will overwhelm a mic pretty easily. What about just putting the mic on a stand, is that not working well?

I’ve been using a plantronics headset for a while and I think it’s a fine little mike. works great both on the pc and on my little cassette deck. cost about $30. - Joel

The mic on the stage works if you wish to stand absolutely still for an hour set and not move it away more an an inch from the thing. When we do a Casino show its from
4:30 - 10 p.m., 3 evenings straight.
My legs and feet sweel up and hurt soooo
bad.
It would be so much nicer to be able to
sit down to play a slow song, or walk a few steps over to a music stand to play a new
song, and not just stand like a statue with the whistle having to just about tough the
mic to be heard at all over the slot
machines.

How about a boom or a gooseneck on your mike stand? Granted, not as elegant, but at least flexible.

Lolly,
I suggest you take a look at: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/
Select the upper tab “Live Sound” and use the ‘browse’ selections on the left side.

Audio-Technica, PRO-8HE, Product #270420, $80.

For total stage freedom, there are several wireless headset systems listed, like the Audio Technica, ATW-601/H Freeway Headworn Microphone UHF Wireless System Product #270568, $290.

Thanks Tony,
I saw this too, I was hoping someone had experience with some of them, so I
don’t waste $100+ on something that hurts,
falls off, or just plain doesn’t seem to sound right, even going thru a professional
mixer, etc.
Maybe someone else will write in that has used one of these.

Lolly…
many of these products are also available from Guitar Center, Mars Music and Sam Ash Music. Hopefully, there’s one close to you. The good thing is you can try these products in the store. Most places have a 30 day money back guarantee.
