Need help with tune name!

I really can’t find the name of that tune. I’ve used Tunepal to no avail. It’s the first jig in this set, it’s not NOT the name the uploader gave it…

Even though it’s maybe a bit more rushed than Junior would have had it and have a slightly different take on the first part, it actually IS The Thatched Cabin, composed by Junior Crehan, just as the uploader named it.

Thank you! It explains why Tunepal could not find it. But thesession.org doesn’t seem to have this tune under that name. I will now hunt for a better version of this tune, before I learn it. Thanks again.

Thanks Gumpy :wink: I don’t think I could learn from an ABC even if my life depended on it, but I’ve got my hands on a clip from a recording from Kevin Crehan, he plays the tune ‘The Musical Doctor’ right before that one. Do you think that version of the tune (if you have the recording I’m talking about) is pretty close to the ‘real thing’ ? I would assume it’s pretty close since it’s Junior’s son that’s playing it!

That might be Track 11 from Kevin’s album “An Bhábóg sa Bhádóg”, and ending with The Mist-Covered Mountain. Kevin plays it at about MM=118, so actually a hair faster than the YT video. But very relaxed and smooth.

Yep that’s the one! I love the two first tunes, a mix of F nat, F#, C nat and C#… wicked!
