That’s the Luachrachán. But that’s not what she’s playing, I was reminded of it briefly as well.
Yep, the Luaithreadán (Junior Crehan) is what I thought of too, but that’s not it. Sounds like an extended variant, though.

Funny … Listening to this, I found it hard to “find the beat”. Partly because of the playing style, partly the up-and-down nature of the melody. It’s like a Necker cube. Shift the stress by a beat or two, and it still sounds right.
This also happened to me with Biddy Martin’s Polka, which I learned from Kevin Burke’s If the Cap Fits. I always heard the first two notes as pick-ups, so my whole concept of the tune was shifted over by one-half beat. When I finally realized the mistake, it was too late. It’s forever in my head in shifted form.
I had Junior’s tune down as the ‘Luathradán’, and I am pretty sure that’s what Junior used himself. To be sure I even checked the name with Tommy Munnelly when we had recorded it. He replied that’s how he had it and ‘I haven’t had my wrists slapped yet’. Junior’s book however gives it as the ‘Luachrachán’. So I went with that above. The internet has a wide collection of mishearings and misinterpretations of the title.

I know, I always had it like that, give or take a differing interpretation of the spelling.

Just played through it once, but I thought it was like pieces of Dermot Grogan’s (that’s the Luathadrawn, isn’t it?) with bits of Hardiman’s Fancy whipped in (plus maybe another ingredient or two). Interesting.
FWIW, I saw “luathadrawn” (the spelling I was given) as meaning “eejit,” and figured if the tune fits …
