It’s a slip jig actually, not a jig. You have the notes right, but the bars need to be marked off in 9/8 time rather than 6/8. Lunasa plays this one on their latest CD Se where they call it Timmy Collins’s Slip Jig. Timmy Collins, a concertina player from Clare (I think), plays the tune on his CD Dancing on Silver, and there he calls it Breathnach’s.
So there, you have two names for it now - probably neither one of them the right one. Welcome to Irish music! It’s a nice little tune actually. I’ve been playing it myself lately, on the concertina.
Thanks much for the replies! I wondered why I kept having trouble with the bar lines when I was writing it out from my tapes. Much easier just to play it than to write it out!
