Nickrick - I don’t see a picture…
Here, try these links - paste them into your browser… angelfire images don’t like to come up automatically for some reason.

Nor do those for me, Erik . . .
They just bring up an ANGELFIRE little logo thing when I click them.

You can’t click them. Highlight them and press Ctrl-C then go up to your “Address” box in the browser and hit Ctrl-V. Then hit enter.
Even if I cut and paste, it goes to “rloadblock” and doesn’t load them.
It also says, "If you are the owner of this Angelfire site, and you want these pages and files to be accessible to visitors, you must create an index.html page that links to them, or direct visitors to an alternate main page. "
Hmm.

well that sucked pretty bad didn’t it.. lol..
A nice looking flute and piccolo (or maybe fife?)set. Are there any maker’s marks on them? Do you know what key they are in?
I finally got them to work. I have no idea what my problem is/was.
Brass rings?
Stuart
They do look like brass. Interesting. Interesting looking flutes, too, fife and all. Hmm…
so do you know anything about their age or anything?
Anonymous German flutes, german silver post-mounted keys, will use skin pads but leather kid is better.
Thin bores, quite tone, tarnish easily without constant care. Likely made of grenadilla, c.1890-1920 or so.
Probably low pitch (A=432), but not likely 440.
If they play and have no cracks, probably worth about $100.
The block-mounted fife with brass rings probably is English, c.1850. Can’t tell if it’s stained boxwood or not. The key is probably a flat key, so you’ll need flat hand-cut pads, generally layered on and shellaced.
Probably pitched in C or D, very likely low pitch if the dating is accurate.
Without maker’s mark, work about $50-75.
Of course, this is all sight unseen, using just a photo to guess.
Hope this helps.
Thanks… that’s a great help…
well the flutes have no clear markings.. although the fife.. has a marking that i cannot read as it has been scratched off.. It is white and maybe in a triangle shape..
???
I cannot play the flute myself but can get a sound out of them.. I took them to school and asked some of the flute players in my band to have a go.. They were great!! playing scales and all..
Well i guess they’re just a bit of fun.. Thanks for all your help guys..
