Hi all,
yesterday I tripped over an antique market by chance an an inner voice said
to me: don´t walk past but through and have a quick look if anyone sells a
wooden flute…and guess what !!! I found one !! it is not in a very good
condition (has a crack in the head and one near the footjoint and the joints
have been fixed with thread) but plays well and has a lovely sound.
Unfortenately the seller could not tell me anything about it, so I wonder if
someone might be able to tell me something about it if I loaded a picture up
one the internet or sended it to him by email ? I would really like to know
something about brand, age, quality and have no clue myself !!!

Hi Dagmar. Put up a photo on the internet. if you can, or you could email a photo to David Migoya at fyfer restorations - he would know better than anybody. But put one up on the net, I’m curous to see it.

Pretty!! I can only guess about what it is though, so I’ll leave it up to others.

made in Germany, likely around 1880, keys are post-mount and made of German silver (which is actually white bronze…no silver content).
Slide is likely plated (or not) brass. Crown likely is a metal cap over wood with a wood screw that holds the cork.
pitch is either high (a=452ish) or just off of 440. If it’s marked as LP (sometimes on the barrel) then it was made for sale in the USA.
Wood is probably mid-grade grenadilla.
I won’t even place a value/price on the flute as that’s a personal thing between you and the fellow you bought it from.

WOW ! Yes that helps a lot thank you ! I bought it in Germany (I am German as you can tell from my superb English 
) and all your guesses concerning the crown and the slide and so on are perfectly right ! Concerning the pitch: it is remarkably higher than my Overton Low Whistle (when the Whistle is cold and it is a bit flat then, have to try it again after I have played it for a while or will compare it to one of my silver flutes) but quite the same as the Camac wooden flute that I own. That is a bit high off 440. I payed 50 Euro for the flute so hopefully it was a good price…
