It goes off when you shut the door… I think this is bad

Call the department of homland security. Quick!!!
The office door or the microwave door? If it is the microwave door, you have a short in the switch, and you need to unplug the microwave. If it is the office door that you are talking about, then you may have a ghost. Ghosts have been known to turn electrical appliances on and off. Call Ghostbusters.
I used to work in an optical lab. I think that the owner did the electrical wiring in the lunchroom, and it was wired so that the chassis of the refrigerator was hot. As long as you were not touching a ground at the same time, you were OK. However, one day I opened the refrigerator door with one hand and touched the metal sink faucet handle with the other hand. Naturally, I got 115 volts right through my body. I had a hard time breathing for awhile, and I made sure that the same thing was not going to happen to anyone else. Like, this refrigerator is staying unplugged until you fix the wiring.
I thought that, too…
You wouldn’t happen to have a spare geiger counter, would you? ![]()

Our old microwave started doing something like that just before it quit working entirely. When the door was shut the light would go off but it would cook, and when the door was open the fan and light would go on but it wasn’t cooking.
We have a different microwave now.
It’s a time bomb Tex, better run to the hills and hunker down.
Get rid of that microwave before you get man-b00bs!

I have to leave my microwave unplugged when I’m not using it because it sometimes spontaneously turns itself on. Not sure why, I guess there’s a short in it somewhere. So, I just leave it unplugged until I want popcorn.
