My first (bizarre) tinwhistle gig

Yes, I had my first tinwhistle “gig” today.

A short report, with pictures, at:

It will make you laugh.

Excellent! When are you taking your show on the road?? Heck, with those instruments, you can BUILD the road…

Well, I just cannot imagine how you played that whistle. I tried it and I cannot seem to make my hands even bend as much as yours are. I have quite large hands and long fingers. What a brilliant idea with the whistle. I would never have thought of that and I didn’t even get it at first. The other instruments are neat too and I am looking forward to investigating that crazy website. Perhaps I could manage the bobby pin kalimba or whatever it was. I give you a 5 hat review.

Really cool
I thought it was strange when we were asked to do a gig for a humane society…but your story takes the cake

Wanderer—is your avatar you in a hunting outfit? Why is one of your shoes white? Why do you appear to be indoors? Is that some sort of gun with a little umbrella on it?

 I’m at a paintball court. That little “umbrella” is the hopper where the big .68 calibre paintballs are stored.

And both of my shoes were white  I wasn’t hiding from deer..I just needed enough blend to give me a second or two edge, so I opted for the sure-footedness of tennis shoes.

I didn’t say that I played it very well! But it was one of those occasions where hitting each note sort-of-close made it all the more funny.

The pipe was 1/2", which is actually too wide for a C whistle, but it had to fit snugly inside of the soil probe.

Excellent explanations both of you.

Perhaps you should send in “Home on the Range” played on backwards whistle to Clips and Snips—as a sort of anthropological thing.

Paint ball court…never would have guessed that.

P.D.Q. Bach, inventor of the double-reed slide music stand and the left handed sewer flute, would have been proud of your innovative musical engineering.

How very cool! How very down to earth! How incredibly inventively sneaky!

I was going to say “especially given the hunting avatar”, but then I read the paintball post…
So, nevermind!

Hah!

That’s terrific. What a great story. Thanks!
