Sometimes, when you wake up in the morning, you sort of half-open your eyes and you can see, from across the room, the cat, sitting bolt-upright, unwavering gaze, never blinking. Just… staring.
Every time I read about your weird cat. Nano, I know there is a good reason why I never got one. But you do have to wonder what on earth the cat was looking at
Hey! I just had an idea (take it now…this may be the last one for a while). My mother in law gets bats in her walls frequently, and the cat goes nutso trying to get into the walls to get them. I have actually seen her cat stare at the wall too, and come to find out there was a bat in there that she could hear, but we couldn’t.
Go ahead laugh…but you’ll be sorry when you have a bat flying around you head at 3am…then you’ll think of me in my izziezizziewizzie-ness and wonder why you didn’t listen to begin with
Nah, Izz, in this case it wasn’t like she was fixed on anything detected within the walls. It was like she was doing zazen, Rinzai style.
Of course, as soon I went and opened up the fridge, that was enough of that, and there she was, warbling and reminding me that she’s my very best friend in the world, and for that she ought to get a treat.
Well, then I go back to my original statement about how I’m glad I never got a cat Besides, I have enough weird things going on as it is with all these kids running amok!
I’ve got a screensaver on iMac which looks like a multi-tentacled point of light which migrates around the screen, changing colors against a black background. That did get the cat’s attention for a few minutes, but I guess there was a visual basis at least.
Oh, and here’s another weird thing my moggie does: she likes to insert her tail into spaces, like into my sleeve or the open part of my shirt when she’s on my lap, or under doors and under newspapers, things like that, and makes little switching actions with her tail like it’s a sort of thrill for her. She makes a point of it. Hmmm…
My kids like to do that too. Although it’s usually their fingers, and they seem to like to stick them under the bathroom door when someone is in there. They get a thrill from that too.
I think cats just get tired of watching us run around doing silly pointless things so they just turn to the wall or some other totally boring place so they can rest their minds. We are just too much uproar sometimes. The tail swishing sounds funny . But you know, if you had a tail wouldn’t you want to do something with it to show how clever you were?
Picking my nose first came to mind, but then I thought I’d probably be one to shed buckets and wouldn’t a snoutful of fur be just dandy. I could see me sneezing all over the place. That’s get my nose clean, you betcha. Real nice.
I already have enough of my own nose hair, anyway.
