Musical notation software

Do any of you use this kind of software? If so can you recommend something on the less expensive side? It will be appreciated.

Thanks.

I use Finale Allegro, but the NotePad (http://www.finalemusic.com/notepad/ - used to be free but costs $10 now) probably would do everything you need. They also usually offer upgrade prices to their higher-end stuff if you get to where you feel limited.

Muse Score: http://musescore.org/

It’s still in its development stages, but it’s free. I’ve used Finale Notepad and the full version of Sibelius in the past and I’d say this has at least the capabilities of Notepad. I’m using it at the moment to transcribe tunes for a project and it works just fine.

I use Noteworthy Composer. http://www.noteworthysoftware.com/

I can’t offer a comparison, as I haven’t used other software for musical scoring, but I like Noteworthy a lot. I got started with it because it is the music format used on http://www.cyberhymnal.org.

Blessings,

Mark

Thanks, Mark. I would have responded sooner but I’m having problems connecting with this forum. I appreciate your site.
