Music Under the Mountain school (Jan 2007 Australia)

Greetings!

Due to some pupils dropping out of the pipering class at the Music Under the Mountain summer school, there are now a couple of vacancies. This is a week-long school, this time held in Victoria (instead of Tasmania), Australia. Which means it is easier to get to, but the mountains are a bit further away.

In the pipering classes, the emphasis is on getting the tunes to do the work. Techniques are introduced as they are needed in a tune. It is less confusing that way. Because the standard has been rising steadily over the past half dozen years, the class is now intermediate- to advanced-level. A lot of reed-making gets done, too.

The school also caters for tin whistle, Irish fiddle, and Scottish fiddle, among others. See www.celt.com.au/summer.html
