A confession not to be confused with a commercial.
I knew something was wrong today when I inscribed 3011 on a whistle, because at a whistle a day it would take 8.2 years to make that many whistles. I have only been at it 6 years and I don’t average a whistle a day!
I couldn’t sleep because of these thoughts so that’s the reason for this midnight hour.
Mack made a mistake in numbering whistles!
I not only jumped from 2099 to 3000, but I had jumped from 1099 to 2000! A mere 1800 whistles…
So if anyone notices a discrepency in the numbers, that’s the cause. I guess I’ll offer an apology rather than a recall!
I’ll be going back to 1100 tomorrow. It reminds me of the game of Aggravation!
i have to admit, i looked at the number on my recently acquired whitecap, and said to myself, "yeah, right, 20 whistles a month, he would have to be like 86 years old
thanks for clarifying.
although, this will confuse collectors in years to come. maybe the numbers you go back to should have an * next to them.
meir
You think that’s confusing, the early flutes and other woodwinds had a letter system which some people thought to be owners initials.
The word MUSICTRADE would be used to represent 1234567890
So S/N 123 would be depicted as MUS, 246 would be UIT.
And to add to this:
Some Companys uses the 1000’s, 2000’s, 3000’s, etc for different models.
I wouldn’t start renumbering. I would keep the numbers in order of production, and if there are 901-whistle gaps, who cares? Only if whistle 2047 was made before whistle 1123 is when it’s really confusing.
Darnit Dale!
I ran out of whistle! But it does look cool with those digits all coiled around the whistle like a…like some kind of a…I cant think what it’s like! But some of the 0’s do fall right over the sound holes!
And I like the advise about not back tracking and the mystery for future generations. But then it’s mystery either way isn’t it? Doomed if I do and doomed if I don’t…
And I want an umlaut, too!
And Randy with # 3000 and you folks with #'s 3001-3011, I hope to live so long!
And I finally got some sleep after two Tylonal and a Melatonin (and confessing, of course).
Thanks for info, Mack. I will use those in-between numbers in my counterfeit slave-labor factory in Asia and sell “your” whistles on Ebay and get fabulously wealthy!
