Let’s see baby born this year, some whistle makers are getting older and looking towards retirement, therefore the appreciation of whistles/flutes over 18 years …hmmmm..equals college tuition! and a music degree!

OK, i have a Miyazawa flute with serial number 100 and a Mark Hoza heajoint in Ironwood!
The Powell wooden flute used to be what i dreamed about, but i took a left turn and went to Baroque flutes instead. These pictures inspired me; i need to take some pictures of my sticks, but i have maybe 10% of what you have in quantity and 1% in value. Here are my main flutes:

I don’t like the Hind ocarina…it smells like varnish and has an uninspired sound. Zub, I am very envious of that Strathmann recorder!
You’re right, Loren…Moecks suck. I have a boxwood soprano Fehr recorder that I got sometime in the last year or two, and it’s better than those blasted Moecks. I didn’t know what I was doing when I first went recorder shopping several year ago.
Do you mean the .sig? That’s the tagline from a famous cartoon from the New Yorker. It goes with my avatar. I guess it means that on the Internet you never know really what you’re dealing with. Me, for example, for all you know, i could be a 14 year old girl in Beirut, and all this talk about flutes and whistles could be an ellaborate farse. Or i could be the Bubble Boy. Or Davvy Spillane.

I’ve always enjoyed doing things “end-to-end”, like catching fish, cleaning, cooking and then eating them. So making my own whistles and playing them is one of the most fulfilling things in my life! I’ve always enjoyed making stuff, and when you make a whistle, and then play it, tinker with it, improve it, its great fun.
I’ve even had a couple of people ask me to make one having played them, so thats good too.
