Martin Preshaw's pipes- an owners club???

This follows from Drunken Piper’s question on Martin’s pipes.

I was wondering how many set’s Martin has made. I know of three 1/2 sets here in the L.A, area, including mine; plus 2 chanters or so. Anyone else??

I know of a 1/2 set in Tampa, Florida.

What is it with always talking about what other people own? I find it creepy. I am positive that the owner would not appreciate it (if asked).

Sets that are in public realm due to music album notes or article are fair game. Articles, items, holdings of public archives or organizations are fair game for discussion.

What private individuals own or do don’t fall into that category.

I’ve got a brand new one, actually one Marty had made for himself recently, as a replacement for a set I’d bought a few years back from him. Photos are in the 2006 diary page over on D’arcy’s site. The chanter was made with Marty’s new reamers and is a really well made, well-reeded chanter. Very lightly, but brightly reeded, all sorts of tonal character in the chanter, etc. I’ve grown to like it more and more over the past coupla months.

Just out of curiosity what do you own Mr McGuire …lets all come out of the closet on this one ??? I have no problem with the question as I have owned two Preshaw chanters in D and probabley will be ordering a third…his concert pitch chanters are top notch.

What happened to the first two?

I just got my hands on a chanter, bag & bellows by Marty a few weeks ago second-hand, with a reed made by David Power. Really beautiful-sounding instrument!

I checked…no Preshaw chanters in the closet. Glad to see someone get the concept though - Ask, don’t tell!

Sold first one ..practice set
own half set 2nd chanter
Now own a full set Dave Williams which has no chanter. I am loving the sound of the Preshaw chanter with this set.
I want to get a fully keyed Preshaw with stop key. Preshaw is chanter of first choice because I absolutely believe his chanters sound great and are easy to reed.
Eventually I will sell half set.
have now violated the McGuire ask but dont tell policy

Huh? It is great for people to talk about what they have.

Talking about other people’s stuff should involve their permission and consent. The owner should decide.

i have a lovely preshaw chanter & after a little reed adjustment by alan burton its sweet as a nut, my friend tim has recevied his preshaw practice set & he seems quite content with it, --------- lovely work.

albert

Whats the idea of having half a bass reg fitted to a half set ??
