Martin Preshaw chanter

On the frequently raised subject of recomendations for pipemakers I have recently purchased a concert pitch chanter from Martin Preshaw.
To say that I am delighted with it is a complete understatement.
The chanter is in plumwood and plays beautifully in tune with a very stable back d . The chanter actually comes alive in your hands and plays in the upper octave with ease. The tone is wonderfully bright with a lovely hard d and e. I have two other very good chanters but this one really is a gem. Martin is also a pleasure to deal with and appears to be genuinely interest in your opinion. On the strength of this beauty I have ordered a 3/4 set despite already owning two other extremely playable sets.

What he said. Quality gear, and Martin offers superb service - he threw in a box of reed-making materials, extra reeds (chanter and drone), and a spare used case after my impulse purchase of an unclaimed plum and boxwood half-set he had ready to go.

Speaking of which, they’re dead sexy:

Oh yeah, baby:

That’s what I’m talking about:

Off for a cigarette now.

three sets, man, some people!that preshaw set is sweet, love to hear it.

Nice looking set.

I’ve played around a bit on Mark’s set there from the photos and it is indeed a sweet little slapper! The tone of the chanter is quite lively and ‘present’ without being obnoxiously loud. And there’s just something about plumwood…
