It must be all the blowing and squeezing, the reed adjustments, drinking the local waters, and few beers, the driving to and from jobs, the snow shoveling and hanging out with musicians…that caused the insanity that I am apparently suffering from. Within the next two months I will be relocated in the Hammond/Ponchatoula Louisiana area.
My advice to all you fellow pipers? Take an hour a week and throw things out of your cellar, or your attic, or your garage… Just toss it. Return to the back-packer’s rule: If you don’t use it EVERYDAY then don’t carry it. Geez, I’ve got a ton of stuff…more like ten tons. So, besides running the shop all day, my night job is throwing out STUFF.
In the end, I’d like to have my work tools, some clothes and my instruments…and little else. But here is the gist of this posting: when I finally get my shoes off in Ponchatoula I’ll need other pipers to listen to and share some tunes. Anyone in the area? In the past several of you have noted that you get to New Orleans once in a while…is there anyone in the Tangipahoa Parish area who wants to sit and gab a bit? If not, then I’ll just play on alone, as I have in Michigan, seemingly forever…
Thanks for giving me a place to vent!!
