Hey Jose’, glad to hear it worked out for you! I continue to enjoy my 8 key M&E and I’m making improvement daily. Don.
6 key Olwell cocus for sale. You’re all correct. I’m going to buy three or four M&Es and maybe a few Seerys and Ganleys to boot. Then I won’t have to worry about cracking issues and I’ll still sound as good as myself. I don’t really need an Olwell if I’m only going to sound like myself. Why keep it if an M&E is just as good and I’ll sound like myself in any case?
Any takers? Starting price is over the top, as is to be expected. No offense, but I don’t want Aanvil’s mother.
On second thought…
What would you do with 3+ flutes? Are you constructing a barrel organ? ![]()

nunchuks, my good man.
Mr. Delaney’s long term problem is the inability to understand that not everyone can afford a keyed Olwell, Grinter or Hamilton flute…he is completely unable to relate to the fact that for many of us, there is a huge difference in laying down $600 on a flute compared to laying down nearly $3,000 (plus the money for another flute to play while waiting for your keyed Olwell - unless you’re buying one of Mr. Delaney’s cast offs which I’m willing to bet he sold for much more than $600).
Just paid off my student loan (I finished grad school in 94), still paying off the $3,000 furnace I had to put in a week before Christmas this year, paying off the wife’s root canal, and needing to save $3,000 for next April’s school trip to France for my son (which is REALLY an annoying expense). I can tell you I do NOT have the cash laying around to buy a keyed Olwell, and I’m guessing I’m not the only one without the finances to do so.
Mr. Delaney, please feel free to buy Olwell flutes in quantity and sell in the sub $1,000 for a nice keyed flute. If you really care that everyone have such a fine instrument, please back up your belief with the cash which it sounds like you must have in abundance.
And finally, I trust the players who’ve played my M&E much more than I trust you (despite the fact that I believe you to be a fine player) since I actually know them and have played with them - heck, at least one of those who really liked my M&E has won an All Ireland in flute…have you?
Eric
I do NOT have the cash laying around…
Lying around.
And it’s Ms. Delaney to you.
The issue was not how much money I have, but the quality of the different flutes. I didn’t accept that an M&E was the equal to an Olwell. What has that to do with my presumed wealth?
If you think I don’t “understand that not everyone can afford a keyed Olwell, Grinter or Hamilton flute” then you don’t know me at all. Which is, of course, the case. Offhand, you sound like a rather humorless pupick.
Sorry about the gender identity issue on my part…many of your statements held a remarkable resemblance to a Mr. Levine I sparred with on similar issues in the past - so I may have come across more harshly than I should have…unless you are David Levine in tune-based disguise. ![]()
Eric
I don’t even know what the issue is at this point. Nor much care.
Actually, I don’t think there ever was an issue- at least not in my mind. I just wanted to advise those who were interested, out in flute land, of what I considered to be a fairly good deal, you know, a modest priced flute for those who are perhaps not as advanced in their skills as some others on this site-- or have a modest income at present. No big deal, just a friendly heads up for those who might be in the market to obtain a good flute (in my opinion) rather rapidly at a good sale price. Have a good day. ![]()
Sure, give a quick, useful tip and then run. We know your kind.
Yep, law enforcment trained, to the bone–duck and cover that’s my motto. No point in giving some one a complete target to shoot at. ![]()
Well the old gal is getting a little long in the tooth but I could throw in some cash and a nice 8 key Metzler. ![]()
Wait?
You are seriously selling a cocus Olwell?

Hmm, me thinks not too shabby.
