Can anyone recommend a Low F for the digitally underenhanced? I’m not really willing to pile on the pounds for fatter fingers, my stomach would probably explode before they were fat enough anyhow. I can almost play a Susato Dublin Low F.
Overton.
I’m a walking skeleton(
),and either Bernard Overton or Colin Goldie will do you well.
They are both master-whistlesmiths,and nice people to do business with to boot.
A low F seems small to me. But then again I wear a size 12.5 ring.
I was hoping for a recommendation of whistle that was a little more “off-the-rack” than an Overton, which I would love but would cause serious marital strife. My skill levels don’t merit multi-hundred dollar whistles. My dear sweet wife, alas, is fully aware of this.

Dixon, Shaw and Alba are all good makes that do a low F at a reasonable price. The Alba and Shaw are quite breathy. The Shaw in particular has small holes, but its breath requirements make it a challenge for new whistlers. I have a Dixon tuneable and Shaw in low G - both good, but very different.
