I post this with some trepidation… I’m looking at Low F whistles and would like to get some input on and hopefully some comparisons between those made by Burke and Reyburn. I’m desperately hoping that this will not get into the “which is better” or personalities that flavored the recent Goldie/Hardy discussion. Just looking for playing characteristics…
I presently have a Reyburn D/C set, purchased from a Board member some time ago, that I like very much. Sounds loud and brassy to me and I like the design as I’m a pretty wet blower and it doesn’t clog much. For the low F I’d like to a bit mellower sound but still have to deal with the clogging possibilities. I had a lovely sounding Harper A/G set for a bit that unfortunately clogged too much for me to play extensively - undoubtedly my problem, not the whistle’s.
Anyhow, has anyone played Low Fs from Reyburn and Burke and would you venture your impressions or, ideally a comparison.
Thanks and best wishes.
