Lorenzo?

Anyone heard from him or had a sighting. Kind of miss the old boy, did he ever make it “into the wilde”?

I think we can safely assume he has been eaten by a bear.

I feel a connection to him as I play his old Gallagher B set. Small world.

he posted on the youtube thread 2 days ago!!

Hell, that’s a sighting these days
What name is it posted under?

Hey gang, been gone for a while. Got a new computer the other day but had to think hard to come up with my password to post that link of TomC playing his B set on YouTube. I’m still living in the past I guess.

I do have a bear that hangs around here in the summer, and a few big cats. I have a generator for electricity, and here’s my view…

Are you still on your sailboat tansy?

Patrick, I want my Gallagher B set back! Well, anytime you’d like to part with it anyway. That set was so light and easy to pack around, and so in tune and easy to play. Hope it’s well.

Hey Lorenzo,

you’ll get that set back when you pry it from my cold dead fingers. I’ve got a great reed in the chanter right now and am getting a spruce reed made for it. Seth is also making the tenor and bari regs along with a wood cap for it so it’ll be a 3/4 set in a year or two.

Well, good that you weren’t eaten by a bear.

Yet.

Hey Lorenzo, good to hear from you, maybe you want be a stranger with that new PC, I just got one meself. Have you checked into SKYPE? yes, I’m still on the sailboat, seems to work the best for me  Have you considered a couple of solar panels instead of the generator? two 40 watt panels, 2 marine batteries and a controler(all under $750.) takes care of my needs, pc, stereo, lights and small frig, still use a little kero in the lamps in the winter.
I’d love to see some pics of those bears and big cats. What are you playing on now?
All the best, tansy

Lor - nice digs. Maybe you’ll come across the Blue Bucket!

Have you looked into passive solar heating? There are some cheap/simple setups you can knock together pretty quick, check out this thread: Simplest solar hot water heater setup. Will keep your ferrules toasty! (Had to throw that in to stay on topic :stuck_out_tongue: )

Heh heh! Pray the next ice age comes early then, Patrick. I don’t blame you for wanting to keep the set.

I got a laptop from Staples on sale for $400, and loaded. Has wireless built in. Now, whenever I go to town I connect to some unprotected router (and there’s lots of them–some public) for high speed. Cool. I see the City of Portland now provides free wireless as a service to much of the city.

Thanks for the solar idea. I do intend to do something very similar. I’ll PM you later for more ideas. One is a solar refrig…the big energy user, although natural refrigeration is available most of the year round. I insulated the heck out of the cabin…and have an endless supply of wood.

You know the largest gold nugget ever found in the US was near Sumpter. It’s in the Smithsonian now. You can see where the dredge cut it in half. Never could find the other half…so they say.

you might consider a propane frig if you want something more than an ice chest size. PM me if you ever want to talk about it more, I’ve lived “out” since 1984, I don’t want to get yelled at by the “not” so evil moderators for being OT
