Again I go to the well of experience here and ask if there is a handy way to secure the brass liner in a head joint. The one in question ahd craced and been repaired and moves so easily that it is difficult to move the tuning slide or even adjust the rotation of the embouchure without exposing some brass in the embouchure. Which makes it not play very well of course.
I’m thinking of making it tighter with some plumber’s teflon thread tape.
Glue…
You can use epoxy, Make sure you keep it away from the area where the female slide slides into. So, apply the glue on the liner, slide in from the upper part of the head, be sure you line up the emb. hole with the hole in the liner. Clean it up and let the glue dry completely before trying it out.
Did you ream out the head, after closing the crack, so the pressure is relieved? I like it to slide freely before gluing it.
Good luck!
Jon
The liner slides easily, but is not sloppy. It should glue pretty easily actually. I didn’t want to glue it unless it was Ok lest I find that gluing causes another crack or something.
