Hi there Dale!! I’m a beginner in the whistling scene, but I think I’m
making progress pretty fast, I just love practising all the time…
Now, I’ve got quite a few whistles in in various keys, but thing I
really wanna try out is…A LOW WHISTLE.
My fingers are quite thin, but not too short, all in all I guess not
perfectly ideal for a low whistle, but I must try it. (I’m a guy.)
You know my next question.
I need a whistle where the holes aren’t too big, the stretch isn’t
toooo long and being a beginner, I mustn’t have a low whistle which will
empty my wallet, not yet anyway…

If you have a look in the search-facility and type in “finger spacing low” or something similar then you will find the information you are looking for as it has been discussed many times before. Hope this helps.
Try a low F. It has the low whistle sound and is a great way to break into the Low whistle buisness. When I first picked one up it was a shock. A few months later I received a Low D, and had no probs adapting. I’m lucky though, my hands are huge. Its that first step though that gets you.
If money is a prob, just get the D, you’ll get used to it. The F is an awsome key though.

I’m surprised no one has mentioned Guido Gonzato’s whistles in this thread. At 49 euros (for a low F, Eb, D, or C), it won’t break the bank. Plus, Guido is in northern Italy so he’s right in your neighborhood. I own one in A and I like it very much and am very grateful to the C&Fers who pointed me in that direction. Once the holidays are over, I’m probably going to order one or two more from him.
