Looking for song notes: down to the river

Aloha folks. I’m looking for the sheet music to the song “Down to the River to Pray”. It is sung by Allison Krauss in the Oh Brother, Where Art Thou movie. If anybody knows where some sheet music (preferrably penny whistle, but will do w/ most anything) is lurking, please let me know.

Mucho Gracias

I seem to recall a pre-O Brother Where Art Thou version being posted in the Mudcat Cafe forum. If you can’t find it in a search, you should post a thread there, just like this one. http://www.mudcat.org

There’s a version (Down in the Valley to Pray on JC’s ABC mirror site at http://jc.tzo.net:1742/~jc/cgi/abc/findtune?P=down+in+the+valley+to+pray&F2=find+(wide)&L=1000.

Click the MIDI link to hear it (wa-a-ay too slow), and the GIF link for the dots. There’s also ABC.

I notice that it goes down to B below the low D.

Here it is transposed into D, which puts all the notes in range for the whistle. (I’m not sure why the words and the chords run into each other, but that shouldn’t interfere with seeing the notes.)

I play the Doc Watson version, which is a little different, and I don’t know the AK version off hand, but this should get you close.

… for those notes. I tried but could not find it. I appreciate your image and web links.

Now I can practice it and woo my lovely wife.
