Wayfaring stranger

In one of the threads on slow airs I saw Wayfaring stranger and I heard a sound bit and now must learn to play it on the whistle. Does anyone have the sheet music for this or know where I can find it?
Thanks.

Not sure where you can find the sheet music (I looked on-line and didn’t find it…maybe someone here can ABC it for you), but it’s real easy to pick up by ear. Try this (hoping it lines up correctly…if so, the lower case letters are in the lower octave; upper case in upper octave:

e e b b a b a g e
I’m just a poor wayfaring stranger,

e e b a e g a b
a’trav’lin’ through this world of woe,

e e b b a a a g e
And there’s no danger, toil or trouble,

e b a g e d e
In that land where I must go.

b b D E D E D b D
I’m goin’ there to meet my Maker

b b D E D E D b
I’m goin’ there no more to roam.

e e b b a b a g e
I’m just a poor wayfaring stranger.

e b a g e d e
and I’m bound to travel on.

Ah gee…it didn’t line up. Sorry…it might help you pick it up, anyway, if someone else doesn’t come up with the sheet music or ABC notation.

BTW, in the above, I didn’t include any sharps or flats. Just play the notes straight (no half holing) and it will work.

Try a hymnal. It may not be in a whistle-friendly key, but at least it may give you some idea of how it goes.

It is in the following hymnals:

The Sacred Harp
The Broadman Hymnal
The Free Will Baptist Hymn Book
Heavenly Highway Hymns
Country & Western Gospel Hymnal
