Looking for Slow Session Players in East/North San Diego

Hi All,
Seems like all the sessions for the San Diego, Ca area are pretty far from where I live and I’m looking for an open slow session in the Lakeside/Ramona area–does anyone know of anything? Is there anyone who’d be interested in starting something like this?

Julie

Lakeside/Ramona is Bluegrass country, Julie. I believe that Irish music is illegal out there.

Hi Julie,

Really nothing going on as far as sessions in your neck of the woods. I live in the Granite Hills area east of El Cajon.

Even though it’s a bit of a long haul, you should come check out the session at The Ould Sod on Tuesday nights, if for no other reason that it goes from 7 PM often times to midnight, so you’ll get a full night’s music for your travels.

More’s the pity for me!! An hour drive one way for Irish music! Sniffle!

Definitely plan to make it out there soon! You and Elaine both play there typically, right?

And is the slow session at the House of Ireland is still going as far as you know?

I’m new to the violin and in the San Diego area as well.

I’ve been taking lessons for about 8mo.. and play in the North Coast Strings Adult beginners orchestra.. I like the classical training and music but would like to broaden my horizons and learn some more traditional/Irish/Celt music.

How are beginners received at sessions? Where does one begin to learn and find others to play with? The thought of walking into an unknown bar and sitting down with a group of veteran musicians is terrifying.. so how does one break in?

Hi Julie,

Great seeing you at The Ould Sod on Tuesday, you’re most welcome to come anytime!

Did you enjoy the experience?

Cheers,

Michael
