Have a Low D and now Renee, my wife, wants a High D to play.
She wants to make beautiful music with me. Isn’t that sweet? She is having trouble blowing the big whistle.

Sweet indeed. Can’t go wrong with Overton, but I also recommend the new “Practice D” from Stacey at Alba Whistles. I can’t put mine down. Sounds great, looks pretty, great present for wifey! ![]()

Thanks for your input. Will consider that. Is the practice D the Q1 listed at that page? I did not see a “practice” whistle listed, just a quiet one.
Yes, it is. “Practice” was an “informal” name until they settled on Q1.
Regarding playing an Overton high and low together, I can’t resist indulging in a bit of shameless whistle-maker name-dropping here.
Last month I had the great pleasure of meeting up with Colin and Brigitte Goldie in Brittany. A brilliant day culminated in a midnight session in an underground car park during which Colin and I played Overtons in octaves..
First with me on a high D and Colin on a low, and then me on a low (alto) A and Colin on a very low (bass) A - monster sound, and (as you might expect) the whistles were SO in tune with each other, the sound was a total delight. (Shame Brigitte didn’t have a didge in A with her…)
I don’t like the fact that you guys are talking about whistles. You didnt even write “OT” in the subject!
Thanks for all the input to my request. I am not sure we “need” to go with Overton (Goldie flavor). It is mainly a synergy and visual thing I guess. OK, maybe a little pride and status thing, at least in MY eyes anyway.
One question though. When did whistle discussions become OT? Don’t weird me out Azalin!!!
